South Korean and American forces (based in the South) have raised their Watchcon (or ‘Watch Condition’) level to 2 – the highest being 1. This indicates that the mentioned forces are in defensive mode, embraced for a tactical and strategic response from a North Korean attack seeing as North Korea has been vocally aggressive just lately.
However there have been no significant signs of North Korean troop movement, even though North Korean has around a million troops stationed near the DMZ (Demilitarized Zone).
The allied forces have said that they will increase reconnaissance over North Korea and other means.
Other unrelated developments include the US positioning 12 F-22 Raptor fighters to a base in Okinawa, Japan, but US officials say this is not in response to North Korean activity.
